How Do You Get Over Self-Doubt as a Writer?

Hi, me again, Phuong Le. Anyone here has a self-doubt that holds you back from anything you do? Even when you write a new book or keep going with your old book, you always become tired after a period of time.

Hm, yes, you might face this. Everyone in this world faces the same struggles as you. But because you are more sensitive and dramatic than them, the pain you have to deal with is much longer.

So, what should you do?!

Perhaps you're not bored with the story, you're bored with the character. Try to change the character POV to feel something fresh, which is one of the methods to keep going in the book.

If it doesn't work, what should I do?—you might ask. So, just being lazy. You're a writer, remember? So listen to me, hang around on social media and scoll shorts, or watch some videos. You were like, "What?" Haha, yes, I'm serious. Find something funny on social media, like memes or videos that make you laugh. Something hilarious will help you refresh your mind.

And then, keep it and take note of that scene or meme that makes you laugh. And then, going out, talk to your friends, your mom, your dad, or your sister or brother. Chitchat with them and share with them what you have watched. Then, again, take note of something meaningful and happy in your day.

But taking note, is everything just an inconvenience? No, no, no. As a writer, your note book is your life, okay? So, do it, and you will love it because your soul cannot stop stealing life material and the names of the people you have met.

Because you're a writer and you have talent.

Don't believe in yourself? That's fine. Then, believe in me instead. In the last step, you can take a shower, meditate, and sleep.

You will dream about the next chapter and get up at 3 a.m. to write like a rocket. PLO.

I love you as always,
Phuong Le.
